This receiver has a backlight flaw in which the main screen does not stay lit. I’m guessing because of two hairline cracks on the top side but the receiver is not loose or anything like that. Although flawed, this receiver is still fully functional and it really does not affect the overall use. Please read the details below and you will understand how it is not an issue whatsoever and actually works out perfect. Undervalue for a great deal! Also, to access the blue light all you have to do is gently press on the middle of the receiver for it to light up. Although this might sound strange, it actually works out perfect…. With a simple touch on receiver you can see what song title is playing without distraction and is much better to drive with than the bright blue light on while driving at night. The unit is in overall great shape but the backlight is not currently in fully functional condition. The blue back light is not properly lit. But the buttons and dial are. The screen light can stay on but very rarely(pictured) and can occasionally flicker. The light is not working because there is 2 small cracks on the top left / & right sides of back exterior case. You can view these cracks in the 2nd to last photo included. Is still a fully functional unit and you can read the screens details just fine….. Just not in the dark. This activated lifetime subscription can only be used from this specific receiver and cannot be transferred. Besides the light, all of the functions are in otherwise perfect working tested. Cosmetically, the reciever is in great overall condition. The unit shows only minor signs of previous wear, with no other major imperfections. The screen does have some minor scuffing but nothing noticeable unless examined under bright light. When the reciever is ON and functioning, these scuffs are unnoticeable. The unit is has been cleaned and looks great, no dust or anything. With a brand-new home kit and the active lifetime unit, this is definitely a GREAT and worth every penny and more in my opinion. Once you have the receiver inside it’s “cradle dock” or boombox, any of the imperfections are eventually unnoticeable. This Sportster includes the strong “Pre-FCC” FM transmitter. The strong FM transmitter has the FM channels 87.7 / 87.9 available for transmission. Even though it includes the strong FM Transmitter, the vehicle kit includes a direct connection auxiliary wire, which is definitely the best method to use. Like mentioned, a brand new unopened Sportster vehicle kit is included. This Car Kit includes everything needed to quickly and easily connect, you do not need professional installation whatsoever. What makes these Sportsters the best is their overall compatibly with similar home kit or Sportster boom box. The radio has always been properly stored and is clean and free of dust. The battery compartment is 100% clean and free of any corrosion. The antenna connected to the radio is in perfect shape without any damage. The antenna has a 21′ long Cable extension and has been properly wrapped around the backside the correct way with just the right amount of slack left at the end. The antenna / wire are also in excellent clean cosmetic condition. The Sportster boombox is by far my favorite method to listen to satellite radio. Not only can you portably use the radio anywhere with batteries but you can also use it similar to a Home Kit. With The use of the Y adapter cable included in this listing, you can connect the boombox to your large home audio system. All you have to do is simply insert one in into the headphones input on the top and connect the red white RCA cables to your home stereo system. You would think this would cause some loss of sound quality but I assure you it does not. The radio has a separate volume which enables better sound and pretty much acts like a Preamp. What really sets this listing apart from others is the CLEAN cosmetic shape of the boombox/receiver and the perfect working screen of the receiver. I have taken great care of this set and purposely only use it on rare occasions to keep it intact as best as possible. This radio has remained indoors and has never traveled. The exterior of the boombox really is in stunning cosmetic shape. Not only is it clean and free of dust, but it barely shows any signs of wear. Besides a couple of scuff marks on the front screen there is nothing to complain about with the receiver. Any possible scuff marks on the SP-R2 I completely unnoticeable when the unit is powered on and in use. Unlike most of the SP-R2 receivers out there, this unit has a fully functional blue back light with the screen and all buttons properly lit. Most SP-R2′s out there usually have lighting problems with buttons or even on the complete screen. Sportster Replay SP-R2 Receiver Condition. The Sporster receiever is in perfect working condition and beautiful cosmetic shape. The front side screen does have a little bit of scuffing but like mentioned in the description the scuffs are not noticeable at all when the unit is powered on and in use. The 2′nd to last photo shows the best picture I could get of these…. Bright light really has to be shining on the unit when it is off to see the scuff marks. Besides that, the receiver is in excellent condition all around without any other mentionable wear. All of the features have been properly tested and everything is in fully functional condition. The screens blue backlight is in perfect working condition without any imperfections….. Which really shows how scarce it was used. Sirius Sportster Boombox Condition. The Sportster boombox is in perfect working condition and excellent cosmetic shape. The radio has always been properly stored and is clean and free of dust. The battery compartment is 100% clean and free of any corrosion. The antenna connected to the radio is in perfect shape without any damage or mentionable imperfections. The antenna has a 21′ long Cable extension and has been properly wrapped around the backside the correct way with just the right amount of slack left at the end. The antenna / wire are also in excellent clean cosmetic condition. The boom box does have a few cosmetic imperfections here and there but nothing major. There are a few with minor scuffs marks but nothing that stands out and no real damage. The radio looks and displays great all around. Please refer to the pictures so you can see the exact condition. Not only can you portably use the radio anywhere with batteries but you can also use it similar to a Home Kit. All you have to do is simply insert one in into the headphones input on the top and connect the red white RCA cables to your home stereo system. You would think this would cause some loss of sound quality but I assure you it does not. The radio has a separate volume which enables better sound and pretty much acts like a Preamp. This receiver and kit are very easy to set up and does not need any professional installation whatsoever. This home dock and kit are compatible with both the SP-R1 & SP-R2 models along with the Streamer Replay. This receiver is also compatible with the Sportster Boombox. The receiver is in perfect working condition and great cosmetic shape. The receiver shows some minor wear but nothing major. The front screen has some scuffs but are very lite and unnoticeable when powered on and in use. The scuffs are only noticeable if closely examined under bright light. This receiver and acccesories are all in clean near mint shape and show it has always been well taken care of with little signs of previous use. The receiver has a near perfect working backlight with fully functional dimming and contrast settings….. BUT the surrounding buttons are not brightly lit by the blue light. This does not affect its performance or display, especially when using at home connected to stereo system. It is hard to find this model with a working back light in this condition. Personally I don’t even notice the buttons are not lit when using. With this SP-R2 receiver you will never need to pay for any subscription! Like mentioned active lifetime channels are on this Receiver only and cannot be transferred to any other. Even after all of the various models Sirius has manufactured, the original Sportsters have remained my personal favorite receivers. These units are very versatile, quick to start, great reception and are very easy to use and navigate. I can guarantee you will not be let down with this set. This receiver has had multiple channel updates and it is in working active condition, and I can guarantee you the subscription on this receiver will never randomly end, GUARANTEED! The photos included show this receiver while on and functioning. One of the pictures shows it while inside my personal sportster boom box which is not included and was just used to show the working condition of this receiver. The second photo shows the receiver at full brightness while the second to last photo shows it at 75% brightness. Included with the receiver is a brand-new factory sealed home kit. This kit has everything you need to connect the receiver to nearly any type of audio device. Very rarely will you find a listing that includes a brand-new Home Kit! The radio is in overall good cosmetic condition with some minor signs of previous use. The screen has some scuffing throughout but nothing major. There is some minor Edgeware on the bottom and corners but can’t be seen when on dock. Any scuffs or scratches are not noticeable when the receiver is on. You can see the exact condition of the receiver in the photos included. While the receiver is on and connected into the home dock, it looks in displays beautifully. When I was wiping the receiver down I accidentally snagged the sticker on the back side which is why the top half of it is missing. The Sporster receiever is in working condition and good overall cosmetic shape. The screen has a working blue backlight but has a few buttons that are not properly lit but nothing major. The 2′nd photo shows the receiver at 75% brightness and the 3rd photo shows the brightness all the way up. You can see the exact working condition of the backlight and which buttons aren’t lit in last photo displaying the strong FM transmission channel 87.7. The screens contrast and dimming functions work but the contrast and brightness level should remain at its currently setting. It is always good to keep the brightness oh little bit lower then 100% to preserve it. Make sure every wire is inserted into the Home dock before the power is plugged in and turned on. If you insert any metal wire into the dock while the power is on, there is a chance the receiver could get short-circuited. The contrast is in working condition but has to remain above 50% because it otherwise is very dull. When you change channels you can see the contrast slightly pixelating here and there but nothing major. Just make sure this receiver always remains in its current condition please take very good care of it. Handle this receiver very carefully, do not move it around too much or squeeze it whatsoever. My best piece of advice is put it inside of the home dock and don’t bother removing it. All of the features have been properly tested and everything is in fully functional condition. The menu button sometimes has to be pressed a little harder than the others but it is not an issue… With this Sportster Replay you will never need to pay for any subscription! The active lifetime channels are on this Receiver only and cannot be transferred to any other. Like mentioned, this radio has Howard Stern and over 130 other channels. If you want to know if this radio has a specific channel send me a message. This receiver has the strong FM radio transmission that is getting extremely hard to find nowadays. This specific Sportster radio was manufactured before the FCC weakened the transmission power and has the FM channel “87.7″ as a frequency channel. Because of the strong FM transmission it really works amazing compared to other units. You can take my word that for the life of this receiver it will ALWAYS actively have the standard Sirius channel lifetime subscription… Which is really all you ever need!
