There is no way to know or guarantee how long the free channels will last. I have some that been going over three years with free channels but I also have seen others where the free channels get updated away the first time it takes an update. Although these last 2 years, I dont recall a single time I had one update away even during free preview weeks. A couple of my stiletto handhelds have been playing free for over 7 years. I think the older the radio gets the more likely the channels are to stay. This one just went through an update and retained the channels so that is a good sign. I periodically will plug it in and let it play for awhile during the time I have it listed. THE FREE CHANNELS ARE NOT GUARANTEED. THEY CAN GO AWAY WITH AN UPDATE AT ANYTIME.
